Denby- done!

I've just thawed out after spending a glorious (but cold) day at Denby Pottery Christmas Food and Gift Fayre!
It was a great event and although I could only be there on the Friday and Sunday, I had some amazing helpers in the shape of my Dad and Mr B.
(see below for Mr B's idea of helping!)

Thank you to all of my helpers, the visitors, fellow stall holders and staff for making it such a lovely weekend!

Christmas Cubes...

I've finally found some daylight to photograph my latest creations in!

Christmas word cubes.  They are decorated on every side so you can mix and match and have a different look every day!  I've only photographed a selection of the sides but as you can see they are traditional Tattered Rose designs- featuring script, music, snow and vintage inspired printed paper.

It's a good job that red isn't my Christmas colour scheme at home as these might not make it to Denby this weekend!

Denby Christmas Food and Gift Fayre

Due to the weather conditions, Denby Food and Gift Fayre has been cancelled for this weekend and re-scheduled for...

Friday 10th, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th of December

If you were planning on coming to see Tattered Rose, you'll have to wait an extra week!

Walking in a winter wonderland!

Well where did all of this white stuff come from?  It took me an extra hour and a half to get home from work yesterday.  I had to abandon dear Sylvia and walk to THE best guest house in the world (my Mum and Dad's house!)  Mr B then came to rescue me- wearing full on skiing gear!  We then walked home via the shop and took these pics on the way...

Busy busy!

After a quick mid week re stock I went off to Kirk Ireton C of E primary school to take part in their Christmas Fair.  It's such a lovely school with one class of infants and one of juniors!  I had a great evening and met lots of lovely people.  The button badges below were the best sellers of the evening so I'd better get making some more ready for this weekend!

A Fabulous weekend!

My wonderful round table at the Roundhouse!  It was a huge success and it was great to meet so many people and hear the lovely comments.  Unfortunately I couldn't be there on Saturday so set up was left to my Mum and Dad who did an AMAZING job! They worked so hard and I am so grateful for their help - Thank you to you both!

Christmas tweet...

Hand stamped decorations are proving very popular at the moment.  I have hearts, 'baubles' and birds (with bells!)

There is a new addition to the hand stamped decoration family....stars!

They're so hot off the press I haven't had chance to photograph them yet!  If you'd like to have a look, they will be on my stall at the Christmas Market this weekend.  Hope to see you there!

I'm very excited about the Shottle Hall Christmas Fair and Farmers Market next Sunday (14th November)  I have some very festive treats in store!

It will be a great chance to browse lots of stalls, all with great gift ideas for Christmas.  There will be unique handmade gifts, jewellery, toys and books to name but a few!

It will also be a great opportunity to purchase some of Derbyshire's finest locally produced food and drink.
There will be entertainment for the children, so come along and enjoy a glass of mulled wine & a mince pie!
 Hope to see you there.

Roundhouse preview

Last night we got to visit the venue for the Christmas Market on 20th-21st November.

The pictue above was taken at a recent event and shows how the stalls will be set out.  It's a gorgeous venue and I'm very excited!
Now, I must get on with creating some fabulous things!

Pretty pins...

We're well into scarf and cardi season, hence these adorned kilt pins!
This is an olive and antique brass version with a mini Stampbord charm.  I have a few more in different colours in the pipe line and they will be making their debut at the Shottle Hall Christmas Fair and Farmers Market on Sunday 14th November.

You may not see this one as I have the perfect green scarf..............!

Fun Wednesday...

I had a great day today out and about with my Mum!  We ventured out to Patchings Art Centre in Calverton.  We had a look around the Crew Yard gallery (lots of Christmas things already!).  There are lots of resident artists there and textile artist Jane Withers' work was fabulous.  I've always had a soft spot for embroidery and the cushions, tea cosies and hot water bottles were beautiful!  Mum and I had a great time trying on the facet scarves in the most gorgeous colours!
The surroundings at Patchings are gorgeous.  I want a cartwheel in my garden!

A sneek peek at some Christmas specials!  These are from a selection of hand stamped wooden decorations, more colours are to follow, they're just waiting to be finished off!

Marvellous Mother-in-law

Look at this little gem. It was destined for the rubbish but thankfully my M.I.L knows me well enough to give me first refusal before she bins anything! (much to Mr B's disgust!)

It's gorgeous, around 50 years old and has little blue birds on. I can't decide what to put on it as I don't want to cover up the pattern!

Operation package Christmas cards!

Thanks to my amazing helper, all of these are packaged and ready to go. So that's one thing ticked off the list, another 9,999 to go!

Some dates for your diary...

All of the Christmas fairs I'm doing are now confirmed! That means I'd better get making  more jewellery, cards and gifts (rather than just the mess I've perfected making, see above!)

My naked heart...

and star...Here they are before..............

and after (the star is still a work in progress!)  It measures roughly 19cm high so it's on a larger scale than usual for me.  The idea is for them to be freestanding, on a side table or mantlepiece.
The star is going to have more of a Christmas design, perfect as a festive table decoration.  Watch this space for pics soon!

Tattered tags...

After finishing the cards I thought I'd make some tattified tags for Christmas.  They'd be perfect on a hamper basket, some simple coloured tissue paper or even some vintage sheet music (Christmas carols of course!)  I've also done some off-white tags, they'll look great with classic brown paper.

Christmas on a Wednesday

Today has flown by, but I've been very productive.....
I spent this morning Swarovski-ing (think I've just made that word up!) Christmas card toppers (see the selection above).  All I have to do now is pop them on the cards!

Getting into the Christmas spirit...

(Gorgeous vintage bauble)
Phew, another busy weekend!  It's all systems go for the many Christmas events that are planned for November and December.  I've been making a start on some Christmas card designs this evening and I have some very exciting decoration ideas!  These dark evenings aren't quite right for taking pictures so I'm going to have to get organised and take them as soon as I get in or on my day off!

A fabulous day...

I had a great day today at the Artisan show in Warwickshire.  I got to meet the team behind the briliant Beads and Beyond magazine and see lots of amazing work allong with some excellent new products.  It actually got me in the Christmas mood as I came home and started on the Christmas cards!

Affirmation charms

"Developing a positive mindset is one of the most powerful life strategies there is. Using powerful positive thinking techniques, visualizations and positive affirmations, it is possible to achieve whatever you want."

A little deep maybe? well it's the inspiration for the latest tatty creations...
Clip them to a necklace, bracelet, purse or anything with a loop! They went down really well at the autumn fair so I'd better get cracking on some more for all of the events I have planned!

Wednesday, 29 September 2010

This must be the first spare five minutes I've had all week!  Sunday was the Autumn Fair and it was a great day....

The pics aren't great as I took them in a bit of a rush!  You can see the addition of some twisted hazel which is home to the hanging hearts- they went down a storm!  It was great to see some familiar faces and some new ones too, I had some lovely comments about my products which makes it all worth it!

So thank you to my fabulous helper and head of catering (my Mum!) and to all that came to say hello.

I have lots more events in the run up to Christmas so check out the dates and venues here.

Flying the flag...

more like sewing the flag!  I dusted off the sewing machine and used the fabulous Union Jack fabric to make some flag tags!  They fit in perfectly with the Rule Britannia collection, see them at the Autumn Fair on Sunday!

An early night...

to prepare for an early start!  It's all hands on deck to get ready for the Autumn Fair on Sunday, I'm very excited!

Rule Britannia!

A selection of goodies from the new collection........

These button badges are made from a mixture of old, new, vintage and reclaimed buttons.  Inspired by the  'make do and mend' spirt of the 1940's and the colours in the Union Jack.  They fit in very well with the current trend for all things patriotic! Look out for more Rule Britannia goodies at the Autumn Fair this Sunday.

Mr B and I are back from our fabulous break in Venice

Possibly the most beautiful city in the world.  Lots of cappucinos, ice cream and pizza were consumed!

A short break in proceedings....

to celebrate our first wedding anniversary.  My, hasn't time flown by, in some ways it feels like we've been married forever and  in other ways it only seems like yesterday!

Isn't Britain great!

Having noticed the current trend for all things nostalgic and patriotic I found the exciting bits and bobs above.  I have some designs in mind, I just need to re-claim the family sewing machine!  Look out for the finished pieces at the Autumn Fair!

I *heart* makeovers...

As the season of goodwill is looming ever closer I decided to expand my gift/interiors range.  I picked up these fab shabby wooden hearts and although they look gorgeous just as they are, I thought I'd tattify them!
Here they are before...
and after...

They've each got a hint of colour and a decorative stamp.  Look out for them at the Autumn Fair!

One last day of freedom (Part 2)

After Hartington we went on to Biggin Hall for afternoon tea!
It's a gorgeous historic house with some lovely rooms decorated with fabulous old furniture and random knick-knacks.  It's set in some gorgeous grounds and we weren't the only ones to think so.  There was a photo shoot going on in the gardens with a 'bride' wearing a lovely white wedding dress with black leggings and flip flops! (obviously just a head and shoulders shoot?!)

One last day of freedom (Part 1)

Well the summer holidays are nearly over and that means no more mother/daughter Wednesdays!  The weather was kind to us today and Mum organised a fabulous day.
We started in Hartington and went to visit The Cheese Shop where I treated myself to a selection of cheeses, yum!  We had a look around an antique shop and admired the lovely village.  I was a great day.

Delightful Denby

Well it's been a fabulous weekend and I've met some lovely people, both customers and fellow stall holders.  Above are a few pics of my stall, we got the set up down to a fine art after 3 consecutive days!
I couldn't have done any of it without the help of my wonderful Mum!
Thank you so much Mum!
