A sunny bank holiday??!!....

Yesterday was a gorgeous day.  Tattered Rose was at Denby Pottery's Best of British Gift Fayre and it was lovely to see so many friendly faces! Thank you to everyone who came along for the day.  Here are some photos of the stand.........................

And the new necklaces got some fabulous feedback...
The best sellers were these cute button brooches.....
Spot the easter tribute...these chicks make me laugh, they are so fluffy and seem to have their own personalities! (maybe it's just me!) anyway, they made the stand appeal to the tiddly-peeps!

P.S, a huge thanks to Mum for helping me out...again! xxx

Sunday Sketches #6

Last Monday, my wonderful Mum and I went to Chatsworth House for the day.  It was a gorgeous sunny day so we enjoyed a lovely walk around the gardens and stopped off for a cuppa in the sunshine too............enter today's subject, the brave ducks of Chatsworth!

As I'm finding out, with most animals, they don't stand still for very long so the pictures are full of what I call 'movement' lines!!
However, the purpose of the visit to Chastworth was my Christmas present! Mum had arranged for us to have afternoon tea, it was fabulous and here are some pictures.........

Yum!
I'm now off to get packed up for the Best of British Gift Fayre at Denby Pottery tomorrow.  I have some new pieces to show off so I'm very excited!!!

Front Page News!

Some exciting news.....my first solo jewellery making project has been published in the May issue of Beads and Beyond magazine................
and as an extra bonus, it made it to the front page!
I really enjoyed putting this project together and I hope it inspires lots of people to have a go at some mixed media jewellery making, my favourite way to work!
If you'd like to see the full project, the magazine is available from The Bead Shop Nottingham, pop in for a copy or order it online here and have it delivered to your door (why not treat yourself to some beady treats while you're at it!)

My advice for Kate (or Catherine!)....

As someone who loves weddings, princesses, all things British and any excuse for a day off............I'm very excited about the royal wedding!
Any bride will be nervous about their big day, that's normal, but imagine if your wedding was to be broadcast to millions of people across the world? Kate must be beyond nervous!
Anyway, there is one piece of advice which I'm sure will help her along....

With less than 2 weeks to go, I've got enough time to pop one of these in the post for her!  If you want one too, they will be on sale at The Easter Shop & 'Tweet' Night- tomorrow night at Morley Hayes and at The Best of British Gift Fayre at Denby Pottery on 25th April!!

Sunday Sketches #5

Well we’ve just got back from a fabulous weekend in Cumbria, visiting Mr B’s family.  It’s my second favourite county and these photos should show why................

So, although Sunday Sketches is a little late today, it's hot off the press, completed in the northern sunshine this afternoon!
They're only quick scribbles as the little lambs wouldn't stand still for too long, but I enjoyed watching them play!

Friday Sparkle #8

These Fridays seem to come around awfully quickly!  I’ve had a really busy and exciting week, which started for with a very interesting request!  The lovely Becky from Butterworth Photography contacted me about a special photo shoot she is doing (I don’t want to give too much away as I think the photos will speak for themselves!)
Anyway, as I think most creative people will agree, I love getting my teeth into something a bit different.......and you never know where it might lead!
Below is a photo of one of the pieces I created for Becky.....

I got my needle and thread out, which for some reason doesn’t happen very often! I used some gorgeous Ivory silk that I’ve had for ages just waiting for the right project (I love the tatty unfinished edges) along with some beautiful vintage lace, a very pretty vintage brooch and a little mother of pearl button in the centre.  I’m very much looking forward to seeing the photos from the shoot!

The Vintage Wedding Fair in Leamington Spa..........

Yesterday was a fabulous day for Tattered Rose at The Vintage Wedding Fair in the lovely Leamington Spa.............

Above are some pics of my stall, complete with handmade lace bunting made specially for Tattered Rose by my very clever Mum!
Mum also came along to help me yesterday and I couldn't have done it without her! So Mum........thank you so much for all of your help and for the scrummy sandwiches!

The venue was fabulous and suited the event perfectly.  There were lots of amazing stalls and I had the chance to talk to some great stallholders as well as meeting and chatting to lots of fabulous brides to be.
Our stall was right in front of the stage and I got very excited when I saw this......... (below)

They are The Polka Dot Dolls and they look and sound AMAZING! They set the scene perfectly as we had tasty lemon drizzle cake (tripple layer!) on vintage china plates from The Boutique Baking Company ............bliss!

Sunday Sketches #4

Just in time! Had a really busy but fabulous day today at The Vintage Wedding Fair in Leamington Spa...............more on that tomorrow!
Here is a design I've been working on recently.  I don't always sketch out a design before I start, things usually evolve as I'm working on them, however, this particular brooch that I found deserves some extra care.  It's in fabulous condition and is based on a beautiful stylised flower, floral based things are always very popular, whenever I see anything floral on my treasure hunts I make sure I snap it up!
This piece is currently on the work bench so watch this space for the finished article.

Friday Sparkle #7

Well it's friday again and here is some sparkle.........
As I mentioned before, I've been getting ready for a wedding fair this weekend.  I have made a few more tiaras and hair combs as well as some jewellery pieces.  Many brides that I've spoken to recently have asked for jewellery, so, by popular demand, here is a taste of the Tattered Rose jewellery collection...
This is one of two I have made ready for this weekend (with matching cluster earrings) This one has two re-worked vintage brooches, a gorgeous bow charm, vintage glass beads, Swarovski crystals in beautiful Silver Shade and is finished off with a sterling silver clasp. The other one also has a re-worked vintage brooch but uses vintage pearls.  They both sit neatly in the neck and would look wonderful with a dress that is strap less or has a sweetheart neckline.  Fingers crossed that they go down well (if not I'll just HAVE to keep them for myself!)

Happy weekend! x

Getting in the mood!...........

I've been so busy this week, getting ready for The Vintage Wedding Fair in Leamington Spa on Sunday.
I have lots of sparkly things packed up ready to go as well as some gorgeous hanging hearts and blocks decorated in the usual tattered style!
The above was completed in the sunshine today.  A long time in the planning, it's finally done!  I wanted something to 'explain' Tattered Rose to people (very hard with just an area roughly A3!) It has some photos as you can see, some lace, buttons, design sketches, a map of my dearest Derbyshire and a gorgeous pink rose image. I have a lovely wooden easel for it to sit on at the side of my stall, as it will make it debut this Sunday!!

Sunday (Monday) Sketches#3

Ooops, didn't quite manage to get this sorted yesterday but better late than never?!
These were done last week during a short break at Center Parcs. There were pine cones and leaves everywhere (also lots of ducks and swans but they didn't stand still for long enough!) I have an ongoing project working on a 'Derbyshire' theme (I know Center Parcs is in Nottinghamshire but leaves are leaves, right?) so this is some work towards that.

Friday Sparkle #6

Well Friday came around again quickly! I have a lovely piece of sparkle to share this week.  It sparkles in many ways................
It's to be incorporated into a special bridal hair comb.  It belonged to the Bride's Grandmother who wore it all the time, so it's a very special sentimental piece.  The bride and I have come up with a fabulous design, inspired by her gorgeous dress, custom made by Jackie Thompson Couture.

I can't wait to get started on this piece...............there will be pictures in due course!
